Farming Traditions: Getting Back to Their Roots

Steve grew up in Lancaster County surrounded by the many dairy farms of the area and helping seasonally with straw and hay and occasionally milking. He also had grandparents who farmed and raised Black Angus in the Elizabethtown area. Rebecca grew up in Dauphin and had grandparents who had a dairy herd and conventional broiler chicken operation in the Hummelstown area.

What Does Pasture-Raised Chicken Mean?

Pasture-Raised Cornish Cross Chickens

We raise Cornish Cross broilers out in fresh air and grass.  This is what makes a chicken “pasture raised”.

Freedom to Roam: No Confinement, No GMOs

Our chickens aren’t confined with little room to move around. Our chickens aren’t fed GMO feed. Our chickens are not fed antibiotics or hormones. Our chickens are raised in pasture and are fed organic feed.

Daily Freshness: Mobile Shelters and Natural Diet

We raise our chickens out in mobile shelters that are moved daily on grass. We feed them a non GMO, organic ration from a Lancaster County mill. Along with their feed ration they get all the grass, seeds, and bugs they can eat.

Familiar Flavor: The Cornish Cross Chicken Explained

The Cornish Cross chicken is the fast growing, double breasted chicken you would be familiar with in the grocery store.

From Brooder to Pasture: A Journey of Growth

From the moment we receive the chicks from a local hatchery, they spend 2-3 weeks safe and warm in the brooder. This allows them to grow big enough to handle the changing weather outside in our Chicken Tractors. After they leave the brooder, they spend 4-5 weeks out on pasture.

Processing with Care: Our Commitment to the Chickens

Our chickens are processed by us, because we think it's important to be part of the whole life of our birds. This means they're never shipped off to a giant processing plant.
